Branwell Brontë’s portrait of his sisters hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, and Branwell himself lies beneath a pillar painted over his image. Over time, the paint has separated, allowing us to see a ghostly image of the overlooked Brontë brother. Just as we begin to see him in the portrait, we’re beginning to learn that Branwell has been overlooked by history.
